I began piping in 1982 as a student of George L. Kilgour (1st Battalion Scots Guards). After a brief period, my instruction was interrupt when I moved for school. I later joined the Active Army as a member of the special operations community at Ft Bragg, North Carolina. I played briefly with the Cross Creek Pipes and Drums between deployments. I was retired as a result of combat related activities in 2013. As part of my physical therapy and to continue pursuing my dream to become a competent piper, I returned to piping and began solo competition in 2012, under the instruction of Neil Clark, (2nd Battalion Scots Guards). I have received instruction from P/M Iain Donaldson (78th Fraser Highlanders; Shotts and Dykehead; City of Dunedin) and P/M John Cairns. My piping was again interrupted in 2019 by government service, but I hope to return to piping full time again soon!
