I am from Sewickley, PA and live in Newnan, GA. I graduated from the Robins School of Business at the University of Richmond. I was in retail and a shopping mall manager throughout the country for most of my career except for 4 years on the Isle of Skye in the Inner Hebrides. In Scotland I was the Executive Director of the a Clan Donald Lands Trust in Armadale that held over 20,000 acres on the Sleat Peninsula. The Donald Macdonald Quaich was held at the CDLT every year at Armadale with Dr. Angus Macdonald as MC who was also a Trustee. We also sponsored the Northern Meeting in Inverness each year. I have been around piping my whole life, but did not start learning until I was 20. I played in the Dallas Caledonian Pipes and Drums, The City of Denver Pipes and Drums and the Grandfather Mountain Highlanders. The highest grade I competed in solos was Grade III. The same for pipe bands. I have not been playing much the last 12 years due to health reasons and got a Blair Chanter last year which has gotten me back in the game. A few weeks ago, my doctor cleared me to play pipes again and I am in the process of bringing my pipes, and my blowing, out of dry-dock, not to mention my fingers! There is a long road ahead, but this program seems like it was tailor made for someone like me. I have been watching a lot of Pipers Dojo blog posts and look forward digging into the classes.
